If you lose your Santander bank card, they hold YOU responsible for the debt!
Take a look at this
Time to close my accounts with them, just in case it happens to me.

Co-op bank
Previously, I had nothing but praise for the co-op bank. When I was skint they were very friendly, and understanding. But now..
1. They don't accept the faster payments system. this means I have to call my bank and instigate a slower payment to them, or, heaven forbid, send them a cheque.
2. I sent them a slower payment, but they rejected it, and sent it back with the reference number of my old credit card.
3. They cancelled my card. I was not in arrears, not near my limit, and had used it 2 weeks previously.
4. They restored my account and sent me a new card. Trouble was, the new card had already expired.
5. I still don't have a card. (It expired on 30Th September)
I think somethings going on here. I have a zero balance and they are not making any money out of me.

banks treatment of small businesses
We all know banks are bastards. I've heard several stories like this: A small company is owed money from a big company, big company takes ages to pay, small company needs to pay its staff and other bills, money owed is more than enough to cover it. Small company asks bank for overdraft saying that there is enough money coming in soon. Bank refuses. Why the hell is this?
The reason, of course, is so the bank can increase its crippling charges on the small company.
banks need to be brought to account over their treatment of small business. personal customers have had their charges refunded where it was not considered fair, now the government should act to force the banks to do the same for small businesses. These crooks are just going to continue to get away with this licenced theft. Some highly profitable companies have gone to the wall because of these tossers!

Here they go again
Watch Panorama tonight. The Bankers are at it again. Paying huge bonuses at the expense of your customers is bad enough, but this time it's OUR MONEY. We all bailed out these greedy cheating scumbags, and now they pay themselves massive bonuses, and charge extortionate overdraft rates and pay minuscule savings rates. My bank, you know the one that used to be named after a big church and is now named after a town in northern Spain, recently charged me £60 for going £3 overdrawn, for 2 days. By my calculations that's 365,000% interest! That's worse than loan shark rates!
It's time for the government to act! Do it now! Make a fair rate of overdraft interest, and no hidden charges. Tax these undeserved bonuses at 90%. This is Robin Hood in reverse - rob from the poor to give to the rich. IT MUST END.

New customers
Why do banks and credit card customers pay massive bribes to get new customers and then treat them like sh*t when they get them?
Santan-bloody-der are offering £100 to open a current account with them, and 5% interest for a year. Yet if you are already with them, they charge you £60 for going £3 overdrawn!
adios crooks!

Credit cards
If you are close to your limit on your credit card, watch out! The greedy banks add the interest charge BEFORE they take the direct debit, resulting in you going over your limit and incurring a fine. If they did it after taking the payment, then this would not occur. If the current balance plus interest charge would make you reach your limit, then the transaction should be rejected. This is just another cynical trick to rip a further £12 off you! I cant tell you which credit card it is, but chickens lay them.

Banks again
The bank account of a lads football team in Derbyshire went overdrawn by less than £3, and the bank stung them with £800 in bank charges. This works out at thirty one and a half thousand percent interest. Who are the loan sharks in this case eh? Read it here

Credit Crunch affects us all
Until now, the credit crunch has not affected me. I still had my job, and all my bills were paid. However, I did run on a bank overdraft, and now my bank has withdrawn that facility. To be fair, they have given me a year to do it, but I now have to make serious savings each month.
It seems bizarre that the bankers who caused this mess are still highly paid, and the normal hard working population have to pick up the pieces.
I need to live on baked beans for the next year - could be interesting round my house!

Budget
The papers are moaning about the 50% tax rate for those earning over £150,000 per year. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with taxing people that can afford it? Surely it's a good idea. (Unless you earn over £150k of course!). These fat cats are so rich anyway, that they can hire expensive accountants to fiddle the system, so they don't have to pay the high rate.
We will all suffer because, what will happen is, for example, expensive footballers will demand a pay rise to compensate for their loss of income, so the clubs will put up the match ticket prices, so the poor man pays more to watch the match. The banks will put up their charges and reduce their interest rates on savings, so this is a tax on the poor anyway! The rich win whatever way you look at it.
I don't want communism, but we do need a fairer system. Higher tax on the rich is fair - so there!
