Lets retire

The French are going on strike because their government want to increase the retirement age from 60 to 62. Well, tough titties, ours is going up from 65 to 67 (or even more), and we don't complain about it!

Victory

The wheel clamp is to be banned. Great, some common sense.

Here they go again

Watch Panorama tonight. The Bankers are at it again. Paying huge bonuses at the expense of your customers is bad enough, but this time it's OUR MONEY. We all bailed out these greedy cheating scumbags, and now they pay themselves massive bonuses, and charge extortionate overdraft rates and pay minuscule savings rates. My bank, you know the one that used to be named after a big church and is now named after a town in northern Spain, recently charged me £60 for going £3 overdrawn, for 2 days. By my calculations that's 365,000% interest! That's worse than loan shark rates!
It's time for the government to act! Do it now! Make a fair rate of overdraft interest, and no hidden charges. Tax these undeserved bonuses at 90%. This is Robin Hood in reverse - rob from the poor to give to the rich. IT MUST END.

Water water everywhere, but not a drop for the customers

The wettest part of England now has a hosepipe ban. United Utilities are running out of water, and will impose £1000 fine on anyone caught using a hosepipe. How can a private company enforce a fine? Why have they got no water? It pours with rain, the lake district is in their area, and we are surrounded by water for gods sake! So it's too expensive to build desalination plants and other ways to collect water. Well TOUGH! You bought the water company, you should provide enough water for all your customers, (you know the people who pay your wages!), and if there's any money left over, then you can pay a dividend. In any other business, if you don't supply what you promised, then you don't get paid. How about a discount for all your customers eh?

New customers

Why do banks and credit card customers pay massive bribes to get new customers and then treat them like sh*t when they get them?
Santan-bloody-der are offering £100 to open a current account with them, and 5% interest for a year. Yet if you are already with them, they charge you £60 for going £3 overdrawn!
adios crooks!

Footballs come home (for good)

What crap! 4-1 defeat to the Germans. Why so bad?
It's got to be the number of foreign players in the premier league. Our young stars are just not coming through, they have no chance to get in the team, so they play in the lower leagues. It's time for a limit on the number of non English players in the match squad. Make it 50%.

And as for FIFA not using technology to resolve? Well they must be bonkers, or is there some hidden agenda here? It's obvious that they wanted France rather than Ireland to qualify as it meant more money. Whether Frank Lampards goal was allowed or not would probably not made much difference, we would have lost 4-2. Then, of course the Tevez offside goal would not have been allowed. Where will it all end? A fair result in football - surely not?

We're crap and we know we are

England v Slovenia tomorrow!
My prediction - 0-0 and we are out.

--- or ---

4-0 and Rooney gets a hatrick

You never know????????????????

Moving

Well, The move has fallen through!
My buyer has lost his buyer, who has lost his buyer, because he cant get a mortgage.
So someone down the chain has messed it up for all of us.
The system stinks - surely there's a better way?

118118

Just checking my phone bill. Guess which is the most expensive call? There's no overseas calls, but there are some to 0870 and 0845 numbers.
summary:
25 minute off peak call 49p
16 minute peak time local call £1.10
14 minute 0845 call 39p

Most expensive call is £1.87 for 1 minute and 27 seconds to 118118
That works out at £1.47 per minute!

more expensive than voting for the latest dis functional moron on big brother, or boosting Simon Cowells coffers on Britain's got no talent. Even chat lines are cheaper than that.
The cost is supposed to be 58p per minute, so I guess there must be a connection charge hidden somewhere.

The BT version is 19p per minute. Give it a try: 118800
or use the bloody yellow pages!!!

Moaning is good for you, read about it here.

Moving

I sold my house a week ago, and I'm eagerly awaiting the problems to build up until the final move.
Problem 1 - A buyer is having problems at the start of my chain. The problems are not insurmountable, as his seller intends to move anyway. However, the idiot estate agent from the property that I am buying has taken it upon himself to question whether my sale will go through.

Why is buying and selling such a chore in this country?
Surely there's a better way?
Why do the lowest forms of life appear to be running this system?

Stay tuned for the next thrilling installment!

Egg on face

my credit card has just increased it's interest rate from 21% to 26%. What a disgrace when the base rate is 0.5%. I have the option to not accept the rate and cut up the card, so I have done this.
GREED, GREED, GREED - I shall pay this card off as soon as I can, and never will I get a chicken card again - Bye Bye Crooks!

Common sense prevails

Some good news. eBay are getting rid of the ridiculous rule that you cannot charge postage and packing for books. This meant that you had to factor in the postage cost in starting price, which then meant that eBay could charge a larger fee. Now the eBay members have complained and the policy is being withdrawn. People power or just plain common sense?

Credit cards

If you are close to your limit on your credit card, watch out! The greedy banks add the interest charge BEFORE they take the direct debit, resulting in you going over your limit and incurring a fine. If they did it after taking the payment, then this would not occur. If the current balance plus interest charge would make you reach your limit, then the transaction should be rejected. This is just another cynical trick to rip a further £12 off you! I cant tell you which credit card it is, but chickens lay them.
